Usually sunburns are thought to be a main cause of being at a higher risk for skin cancer. However, skin cancer can form with a sunburn even being caused.

*Light skin people are more likely to burn than darker skin people but dark skin people can still be affected

Below are a number of items that can raise your risk of being sunburned:

~spend alot of time outdoors
~live or vacation at high altitudes
~work indoors all week and then get an intense amount of sun exposure on the weekends
~have had an organ transplant
~have freckles and burn before tanning
~have lots of moles, irregular moles or large moles
~have fair skin or blond, red, or light brown hair
